How the Image Converter Works
Our converter runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. When you upload an image, it's decoded locally into pixel data, then re-encoded into your chosen output format. No server, no upload, no waiting.

Privacy-First — No Uploads, No Servers, No Risk
The FBI issued a warning in March 2025 about free online file converters being used to distribute malware. Most conversion sites upload your files to remote servers — even if they claim to delete them later, you're trusting their infrastructure with your data.
Our converter is fundamentally different. All processing happens in your browser's JavaScript engine using the Canvas API. Your image is loaded into memory as a local blob, converted using native browser codecs, and the result is generated as a downloadable file — all without a single byte leaving your device.

What does the quality slider do?
The quality slider controls the compression level for lossy formats (JPEG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL). At 100%, you get the highest possible quality but larger files. At lower values, the file shrinks significantly with increasing (but usually imperceptible) quality loss. For most photos, 80-90% is the sweet spot.
